Lancers Win Fifth Straight by 3+ Goals

Henniker, N.H. -- Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) registered her third hat trick in the last five games and Worcester State women's ice hockey extended their win streak to five games with a 6-1 win over New England College on Monday evening at Lee Clement Arena.

During their five game winning streak, the Lancers (10-5-2) have won every game by three or more goals. They have outscored opponents 31-6.

Conway had three goals and an assist for the Lancers, who also got goals from Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.), Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) and Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.). The Lancers outshot the Pilgrims 44-33 and took advantage of 7 power play opportunities, scoring three times with the extra skater.

Conway opened the scoring halfway through the first period, and Wozniak netted just over two minutes from the end of the frame. Reaugh and Kelly each tallied unassisted markers to give Worcester State a 4-0 lead just before the midway point of the game.

After a powerplay goal pulled NEC (3-17-1) back to within three, Conway doubled her tally with a feed from Ellen Cook (Becket, Mass.) at 18:30 of the second.

Conway's hat trick came at 4:18 of the third and was the only goal of the final 20 minutes.

Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 32 saves to earn the victory. She now boasts a 2.29 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.

Worcester State is back home tomorrow evening when they host Nichols at 7:10 PM at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
