Worcester State Women’s Soccer Posts 0-0 Tie with Framingham State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University Lancers (4-2-2, 1-0-1 MASCAC) posted a 0-0 tie with the Framingham State Rams (5-2-1, 1-0-1 MASCAC) Saturday evening on Lancer turf at John F. Coughlin Field.

Worcester State had a 15-6 shot advantage over the Rams, along with a 4-0 corner kick advantage, but were unable to pull off a goal on Ram's goalkeeper, senior Sarah Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.). Sullivan got aggressive in the net as she frequently came out to stop the Lancers from adding shots to the count.

Framingham State fired off six shots, four of which were on goal and recorded as saves for two-time MASCAC player of the week, Jillian Witkowski (Leicester, Mass.). This is Witkowski's fifth shutout of the season (five out of six total games). She currently holds a .912 save percentage and averages 0.59 goals against per game.

Worcester State possessed the ball for most of first and second half. They had a few scoring opportunities, one just minutes into the game as there was a cluster of players in front of the Rams goal, and then freshman Tsara LeBlanc (Gardner, Mass.) headed the ball, but it landed right in the keepers' gloves.

Framingham State moved the ball onto the opposing side of the field just four minutes later, as junior Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) shot the ball and hit the post.

Worcester State also received two free kicks in regulation time, but were unable to place it directly into the goal, as one kick from senior defender, Nicole Parenteau (Chicopee, Mass.), was  on goal from where Sullivan recorded the save.

In the double overtime, the possession remained mostly in the hands of the Lancers as they had three corner kick opportunities, but were not able to get any shots off. Framingham State's freshman Megan White (Charlton, Mass.) and Worcester State's LeBlanc recorded the only two shots taken in overtime, both saved by the team's respective keepers.

The Worcester State Lancers will be home once again on Wednesday, Sept. 30 for a MASCAC game against Western Connecticut. That Wednesday, the Rams will take on Rogers Williams for a non-conference game.
