WENHAM, Mass.—Junior forward Kendal Bergenholtz (Grafton, Mass.) scored once in each half to lead Worcester State to a 3-0 win at Gordon College on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Lancers to 7-4-1 on the year, while Gordon falls to 3-6-3.

Bergenholtz set the tone early with a strike in the 7th minute of the game. The junior's fifth goal of the season happened after a small lapse in the Gordon defensive third. A pass over the middle was intercepted by Bergenholtz, who took one touch before firing a shot past freshman Victoria Yetman (Brookeville, Md.).

Gordon was able to get a few good looks from midfielder Jamie Breton (Concord, N.H.), but each one was stopped by Worcester's goalkeeper, Jillian Witkowski (Leicester, Mass.) who recorded her seventh shutout of the season.

Bergenholtz added to the Lancer lead in the early stages of the second half when she took advantage of another Gordon turnover. The quick forward then beat her defender up the seam and sent a drive to the left side of the net. Yetman dove and looked to make the stop, but the ball had enough spin to trickle over the line.

Worcester State added another just five minutes later in the 66th minute. Nikki Dipilla (Sterling, Mass.) sent a perfect ball from the left corner that found the forehead of Tsara Leblanc (Garnder, Mass.). Leblanc ran in from her post in the right midfield and got inside a defender to tuck the cross inside the right post with the header. It was the sixth goal for the talented freshman.

Gordon outshot the Lancers 13-9 on frame, but most were too far away to threaten Witkowski between the pipes. Yetman made six saves in her first career start.

Both teams return to conference play this weekend, as Worcester State plays Westfield State at home at noon. Gordon travels to Nichols for a 2 p.m. start.
