Macomber and LeBlanc Titled 2015 MASCAC Player and Rookie of the Year; Cumberbatch Named Coach of the Year

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Alicia Macomber of Worcester State has earned the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Year honors and headlines the 2015 MASCAC First Team All-Conference squad which is voted on by the coaches from around the conference.

 

The senior from Stoughton, Mass., who earned her second straight MASCAC Player of the Year honors, helped the Lancers earn the top spot in the conference tournament and regular season crown with a 6-0-1 league record. She finished the regular season first in the conference with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points and 98 shots while adding three game-winning goals on the year.

 

Earning the 2015 MASCAC Rookie of the Year award is Tsara LeBlanc from Worcester State. The freshman midfielder from Gardner, Mass. was second in the conference in goals with nine and third in the league with 18 points. She also finished first with four game-winning goals.

 

Worcester State head coach Kevin Cumberbatch was named the 2015 Champion's Choice Women's Soccer Coach of the Year after leading the Lancers to the MASCAC regular season crown and the top seed in the tournament.

 

Joining Macomber and Leblanc on the MASCAC First Team All-Conference is Marissa Miele of Framingham State, Alexi Anderson of MCLA, Katie Levesque of Massachusetts Maritime, Lauren Valdario and Leah Wood of Salem State, Ashley Bovat, Katy Knight and Kate Matroni of Westfield State and Nicole Parenteau of Worcester State.

 

Landing on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference are Lauren DeSousa, Brooke Pacheco, Allyson Pontes and Marissa Yowell of Bridgewater State, Tess Gorman and Angela Pallotta of Framingham State, Natalie Caney of MCLA, Danielle Frazier of Salem State, Caitlin Macgregor of Westfield State and Justine Butler and Jenna Martin of Worcester State.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
