WORCESTER, Mass. – Three different WPI student-athletes scored as the Engineers blanked visiting Worcester State, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer tilt at Alumni Stadium.

The Crimson and Gray, who are ranked 10th in the latest NSCAA Division III New England Coaches Poll, improve to 5-1 on the season. With the loss, the Lancers fall to 1-4 on the season.

Sophomore Hannah Modelski (Hollis, N.H.) sent a feed to junior Mari Bailey (North Providence, RI) who floated the ball into the top left 90 with 2:16 remaining in the first half. It was Bailey's second of the season and third of her career.

Junior Karina Larson (Storrs, Conn.) struck in the 61st minute with her third career goal courtesy of a long free kick. Six minutes later, graduate student Jaime Espinola (Greensboro, NC) deposited her 10th career tally from just inside the box to the top right corner. He was assisted by freshman Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, Mass.).

The Lancers lone shot came in the 62nd minute when junior Ashleigh Howland (Wilmington, Mass.) tested freshman Mandy St. Germain (Upton, Mass.), who made her debut in net following the intermission, with a shot from 20-yards out.

Sophomore Gabi Hoops (Stonington, Conn.) didn't have to make a stop in the first half. Senior Vanessa O'Donnell (Worcester, Mass.) halted six shots for the Lancers.

Both teams begin conference play this weekend. WPI opens NEWMAC action Saturday with a 1:30pm start versus MIT. Worcester State travels to Mass. Maritime Friday to begin its MASCAC slate at 7pm.
