Offensive Onslaught Grabs Second Conference Win for Lancers

Worcester, MA- The Women's Soccer team traveled just over two hours to their third MASCAC game of the season. After a tough loss versus Western Connecticut, the Lancers arrived at MCLA hoping to find their second win of the season.

The Lancers put the Trailblazers on their heels from the start earning six shots within the first ten minutes of play. While possessing the ball for a majority of the first half, sophomore midfielder Erin Condon (East Bridgewater, MA) breaks through with a ball over the top from sophomore defender  Ava Speidel (Lunenburg, MA) to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. Junior Raelyn Callahan (Pepperell, MA) then subbed in at the 23rd minute and quickly found the back of the net off of a ball from Condon to put the Lancers on top 2-0. First year Ava Lemanski (Clinton, MA) came off the bench with a spark of energy quickly finding the back of the net off a cross from Condon. Then just six minutes later sophomore Addison Enos (Middleboro, MA) sent a free kick into MCLA keeper Eva Eberweim who dropped it and allowed Lemanski to put her second goal into the back of the net. Lemanski now leads the team with three goals on the season.

Worcester came out with the same starting line up to start the second half. With a very comfortable lead of 4-0, the Lancers possessed the ball with patience. Callahan was taken down in the box to earn a penalty kick, which first year Amanda Cosco (Watertown, MA) put in the bottom left corner for her first collegiate goal. Worcester led in shots 30-16 as Lancer first year goalie Ella Gumienny (Douglas, MA) earned her first collegiate shutout.

Worcester State (2-6-2, 2-2)  has a bit of a break before their last away game of their five game stretch when they go to Roger Williams Thursday night for a 7pm start.
