Women's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

Worcester, MA- Head Coach Kevin Cumberbatch announces the release of the 2023 Worcester State Women’s Soccer schedule. The 2023 season will be Cumberbatch’s 16th at the helm, where he looks to continue his perennial success in his bid for a return to the NCAA Tournament. The Lancers squad concluded the 2022 season at 6-10-2, 4-3 in the MASCAC, dropping a tight battle to Westfield Stat in the MASCAC semifinals. The team returns a skillful and young cast of players after graduating from a large senior class last season. The team returns MASCAC Rookie of the Year Erin Condon as she aims to continue her first-year success with a stellar sophomore performance. Ready to work alongside Condon will be the duo of senior midfielder Riley Patenaude and junior attacker Raelyn Callahan along with a strong set of underclassmen ready to ensure the success of the season.

“I know we are all incredibly excited for this season to start. We have so much great talent with our returners, and we have half a roster of new talent” says Patenaude. “Last season tested our mental toughness, and with that foundation plus all the individual work we’re putting in over the summer we are going to be unstoppable when we come together as a team.”

The Women’s Soccer team will be opening their 2023 campaign at home on Coughlin Field in an early evening battle with Wheaton College to open the 2023 Worcester State Athletics competition season on September 1st. The Lancers then begin their long road trip stretch of five straight games on September 27th when they head down to Salve Regina. The team will then travel to Fitchburg State on the 30th before opening their October schedule at Western Connecticut State on October 4th.
