Tennis Stays Perfect in the Little East with Win over Castleton

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Worcester State University tennis team was perfect in singles play on Tuesday afternoon, as the Lancers defeated Castleton State by a final of 8-1.

With the win, the Lancers move to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Little East. Castleton drops to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Worcester State took a 2-1 advantage after doubles play after wins from Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) and Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) at first doubles and Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) and Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, Mass.) at second doubles.

All four Lancers who won their doubles matches won in positions one through four once singles play got underway. Freshman Emily Costa (Dudley, Mass.) picked up a win at fifth singles and Victoria Konicki (Auburn, Mass.) at sixth singles to clinch the victory for the Lancers.

Next up for Worcester State, they'll play at home on Saturday against UMass.-Dartmouth. First serves from Wachusett Regional High School are scheduled for noon.
