Buzzards Bay, MA --- Sophomore classmates Mara
Kralian and Nate Starling have each been
selected as respective MASCAC Track & Field Athlete's of the
Week for their performances this past weekend at the Tufts
Invitational. For Starling this is his first honor while Kralian
has been honored for her third straight time.
Kralian, a native of North Grafton, MA, posted three first place
finishes for the Lancers as she broke her own school record in the
55 meter dash (7.31) while she also took home top honors in the 200
meters (26.32) and the long jump (5.31). Kralian scored 30 points
out of the teams 133 total as they placed third out of the seven
teams in attendance.
Kralian broke her record in the 55 meter dash for the second time
this season and she was .01 of a second away from qualifying
provisionally for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
Kralian has already punched her ticket for the Championships in the
long jump.
Starling, a product of Braintree, MA, captured the top spot in the 55 meters (6.59) and posted third place in the 55 meter hurdles (8.19) for WSC. With his time in the 55 meter dash, Starling can now compete in the event at the New England Championships as well as the 55 meter hurdles after he qualifed at the Smith Winter Invitational one month ago.
Worcester State continues their season when they head to the Wheaton Invitational next week.
