Women’s Indoor Track & Field Succeeds at Tiger’s All Comers Invitational

ROXBURY, Mass. – Senior Molly Downing (Dedham, Mass.) and junior Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.) both qualified for NCAA Division III New England's this past weekend at the Tiger's All Comers Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

 

Downing placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 13.49m. McCormack was right behind her in second place with a distance of 13.37m. McCormack also came in sixth place in the shot put with a distance of 9.03m, while senior Hanna Carson (Natick, Mass.) headlined the event at first place with a distance of 12.16m.

 

"Their hard work over the break clearly showed in their performances this past weekend," stated head coach Andrea Ouellette.

 

Freshman Tsara LeBlanc (Gardner, Mass.) came in sixth overall in the 60m dash with a time of 8.30. She also placed third in the first heat of the 200m dash with a time of 27.34. Nichole Tillery (Auburn, Mass.), Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.), and Caitlyn Wallace (Metheun, Mass.) rounded up the ninth, 10th, and 11th spots of the 200m dash with times of 28.89, 29.31, and 29.66, respectively.

 

Sophomore Dalena Le (Worcester, Mass.) and senior Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, Mass.) marked 1:06.63 and 1:08.37 times, respectively, on the 400m dash, while junior Danielle Cote (Dighton, Mass.) came in second on the 800m with a time of 2:37.33. Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Rachel Lauzon (Carver, Mass.) rounded up the fifth and eighth spots on the 800m.

 

Freshman Delia Rhodes (Lawrence, Mass.) placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 11.10. Danso came in fourth place on the same event in 11.81.

 

Senior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, Mass.) thrived on the high jump event, as she registered a height 1.53m for first place. Le and Casasanta came in third and fourth place in the long jump, while coming in second and third place in the triple jumps, respectively.

 

"As far team performance, we now have a basis to work off of moving forward into the season," stated Ouellette.

 

This upcoming weekend, the women's indoor track & field team will travel to the Tufts Invitational #1 for their third meet of the 2015-16 campaign.
