Worcester State Women's Track & Field Participates in Jay Carisella Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Worcester State women's track & field team continued its 2016-17 indoor campaign this Saturday (Dec. 10) at the Northeastern University Jay Carisella Invitational which was attended by mostly Division I and II universities.

 

Junior Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.) posted an 11th place finish in the 60 meter hurdles, and currently sits at 43rd place in the nation as she qualified for Division III New Englands last week with a time of 9.65.

 

Worcester State's freshman, Elisabeth Olson (Wilmington, Mass.) shined in the women's mile run with a 5:40.98 time, good for fourth place and 49th place in the nation. Four Lancers followed her footsteps coming in at seventh through 10th places.

 

Freshman Rachel Stier (Mansfield, Mass.) came in at 10th place in the 400 meter run in a time of 1:03.03. Classmate Courtney Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) came in at eighth place in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:32.86. Juniors Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Rachel Lauzon (Carver, Mass.) followed just behind at 10th and 11th places, respectively.

 

Worcester State's freshman Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.) came in at 9th place in the high jump for a leap of 1.50m.

 

The Lancers will take a break from competition over the next month and will return on Saturday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Tufts.
