Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Each Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams each garnered a weekly award from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.

Senior Eddy Acuna (Newton, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week as the second place finisher in the shot put at Saturday's Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University. Acuna's heave sailed a distance of 14.53 meters.

Freshman Maureen Grady (Douglas, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week crossing the finish line in first place with a time of 7.92 seconds in the 60 meter dash Saturday. Grady also finished fifth in the long jump on the day at 4.88 meters. It is her second consecutive MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor. 

The Lancers will be off next weekend before competing for the MASCAC Championship at Smith College on February 15.
