Worcester, MA- The Women's Indoor Track team traveled to Wheaton College today for the Lyon Invitational. First Year Erin Condon (East Bridgewater, MA) had another dominant performance on the track in both her 4x200m and 400m races on the afternoon, while junior Eryca Lopes (Ayer, MA) topped the day with a first-place finish in the long jump.
Condon finished in the top five for her second week in a row finishing 4th in the 400m with an impressive time of 1:03.96. She claimed an additional 4th place finish as a member of the 4x200m relay team with fellow teammates seniors Maureen Grady (Douglas, MA), Elena Pellegrini (Ashland, MA), and Bridget Maunsell (West Boylston, MA) who ran a time 1:54.04. Pellegrini was also a dominant force on the track in her solo events as she ran a 27.76 200m to finish in 5th place as well as a 8.32 second 60m dash for a another top 10 finish, this time crossing in 9th place. Her fellow relay member Maunsell also had a strong finish in the 200m, with a time of 28.09 and a 9th place finish in the race. Teammate senior Heather Turner (Ashland, MA) also competed in the 200m, crossing in a time of 29.90. Condon and Grady also competed for the Lancers in the 60m with Pellegrini, Grady crossed in 8.51 seconds while Condon closed it out with a time of 8.85.
On the distance side for the women, senior Angela Nigro (Webster, MA) ran a 7:10.12 mile, while junior Nina Fonteix (Elancourt, FR) finished her 800m in a time of 2:35.44.
Lopes was the top finisher on the night with her first-place finish in the long jump, with a distance of 4.99m. Lopes also recorded a 6th place finish in the Women's Triple Jump with her leap of 9.68m. Arianna Constant was a strong presence on the field side of the meet as she competed in the weight throw. Constant led the pace in the field as she threw an 8.3m weight throw toss to secure herself a top five finish in the event.
The Lancers Track team is back in action next Friday when they head to New Balance Indoor Track in Boston to compete in the UMass-Boston/ UMass-Lowell Invitational.
