Adu-Addo Leads Lancers to Set Top Marks as Pre-Postseason Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Indoor Track and Field competed in the final regular season meet at the Pre-Postseason Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. The meet is set as one of the final chances for individuals to hit qualifying marks for regional championships and the NCAA tournament.

 

Worcester State was up to the challenge at Wheaton, hitting top marks in numerous events on the day. First year Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA) would claim sixth in the 60m with a time of 8.24. She would claim her highest spot of the day though in the long jump, with a first place finish on a mark of 5.21m. Junior Eryca Lopes would claim ninth in the event with 4.41m measurement while also claiming ninth in the triple jump with a landing at 9.56m.

 

The Lancers had a dual 6th place finish on the track with junior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA) claiming the spot in the 400m with a 64.15 seconds while first year Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, MA) would grab the position in the 600m with a time of 1:56.69. Sophomore Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) would finish in 11th in the 800m as fellow sophomore Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) would close out the Lancers time in the track with a 7th place time of 11:42.82 in the 3,000m

 

On the throwing pit side, the success would continue for Worcester State as first year Jadah Stokes (Savannah, GA) would grab two second place finishes in both the weight throw and shot put. A distance of 11.95m would do the trick in the shot put while 13.63m would be all that is needed in the weight throw. Joining Stokes in both event was senior Sthanisha Moreau (Taunton, MA) who would grab fifth in the shot out with a marking of 10.02m and a ninth place mark of 10.16m in the weight throw. 

 

The Blue and Gold return to action next Sunday at the New England D3 Regional NCAA tournament as they strive for final marks for NCAA championship qualification.
