Four School Records Set as Women Finish Second At MASCAC Championships

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Mara Kralian (Grafton, MA) clocked top finishes in the 100 meter dash and the 200 to break school marks while she also ran notched a first place performance in the long jump to help the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field team take second at the MASCAC Championships this past weekend. Kralian was honored as this weeks MASCAC women’s outdoor player of the week for her performance.

Westfield State won their 12th straight title with 283 points followed by WSC’s total of 141 and Bridgewater State’s tally of 112. The Lancers also placed fourth overall in the New England Alliance with their Little East counterparts as they notched 94 points.

Kralian shattered two outdoor school marks were 11 year marks held by Jessica Spence as Kralian sprinted to times of 12.63 in the 100 and 25.74 in the 200 while she leaped 5.09 meters in the long jump. Kralian all three finishes were New England Alliance titles while she also qualified for the All-New England’s in both events as well. The previous records were 12.68 and 26.29, respectively, each event.

Sophomore Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) continued to dominate the jumps as she recorded a top alliance finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.15 meters while junior Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA) placed first in the 800 meter run (2:27.11). Antrim also placed second in the steeplechase (12:47.56) as she broke her own mark that she set last year at the Division III New England’s (12:58.05).

The 4x100 relay team of Ouellette, Kralian along with freshman classmates Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) and Kristina Lisacki (Woburn, MA) combined to break their own record for the third time this season with an outstanding time of 49.89.

Ouellette also earned all-conference honors as she placed second in the 100 meter hurdles (16.95), fourth in the long jump (4.83m) and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (73.25) while Rafferty registered third in the 100 (12.97) and fourth in the 200 (27.03).

Freshman Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA) placed third in the 800 (2:35.09) while sophomore Rachel Sullivan (Ipswich, MA) and junior Adrienne Fisher (Wilmington, MA) each finished third (47:19.93) and fifth (51:42.29) in the 10k, respectively. Freshman Maura Withington (Walpole, MA) rounded things out as she crossed the line in fifth in both the 1,500 (5:24.88) and the 5,000 (22:06.81).

In the field, sophomore Christina Bisbee (N. Attleboro, MA) took second in the hammer (39.03m) while freshman teammates Brittany Stoddard (Orange, MA) and Rachael Baker (Mystic, CT) placed third (34.58m) and fourth (34.15m), respectively, in the javelin throw. Stoddard also tossed fifth in the shot put (9.91m) and sophomore Jill Rollins (Leicester, MA) chalked up fourth in the discus (28.02m)

In relay action, Antrim, Withington, Stoddard and Baker tallied four points towards the team’s total as they finished fourth in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 4:35.92.

Select members of the women’s track and field team will compete again this Saturday at the Division III New England Championships.
