Women's Track Ties For 21st At ECAC Championships

Springfield, MA --- Sophomore Mercedes Arnold (Mira Loma, CA) eclipsed her own record in the long jump (5.66 meters) for a second place finish at the ECAC Championships as the women's outdoor track and field team tied for 21st at the meet hosted by Springfield College.

The Lancers scored 13 team points as they were equalled by SUNY Brockport and Wheaton while Williams (73) beat out MIT (66) for the team title.

Sophomore Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) along with freshman teamates Rose Mathieu (Somerville, MA), Nichole Lemelin (Beverly, MA) and Alicia Ryan (Townsend, MA) also tallied fourth place in the 4x100 relay team as the squad timed 49.43 for All-ECAC accolades.

Yesterday afternoon, junior Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) chalked up 11th in the triple jump (11.15 meters) while first-year teamates Cathy Chude (Marlboro, MA), Kayle McElroy (Northbridge, MA) and Steph Muse (Chelmsford, MA) recorded 19th (16.20), 20th (16.23) and 24th (16.65), respectively.

This meet concludes the season for the women's outdoor track and field team.
