Kralian, Werneth Pace Women's Track To 15th Place At Division III New England Championships

Cambridge, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) tore up the track with a blistering time of 12.48 in fifth place to reset the school record as freshman Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) tossed eighth in the shot put  (11.32 meters) as Worcester State for 11 team points in 15th place on the third day of the Division III New England Championships hosted by MIT.

For scoring team points Kralian and Werneth were both honored with All-New England honors.

Sophomore Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) was two hundreths of a second off from qualifying for the finals while junior Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) was 15th in both the 100 (12.89) and the 200 (27.14).

Freshman Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) and classmate Amanda Holden (Lunenburg, MA) each recorded 10th (15.42) and 17th (15.98), respectively, in the 100 meter hurdles before Holden notched 17th in the triple jump (10.34m).

First-year Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) placed 19th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.72) to round out the finishers.

Select Lancers will compete at next week's Open New England Championships.

 

 


Friday's Release

Cambridge, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) earned All New England honors in the long jump with third place while sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) broke her own record in the 10,000 meter run as they helped lead the Worcester State women's outdoor track and field team at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by MIT.

Kralian matched her outdoor season best with a leap of 5.45 meters to earn DIII accolades for the second straight season. Kralian placed sixth in the indoor season with a jump of 5.28 meters.

Donohue eclipsed the mark that she set at the Worcester City Meet by clocking 40:04.05 for 16th place. She was nearly a minute and thirty seconds away from placing in the top eight.
