Wise, Record-Setting 4x100 Helps Lead Women's Outdoor Track At Open New England's

New Haven, CT --- The 4x100 meter relay team was 25 hundreths of a second off from All-New England honors as the squad made up of junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA), third-year Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA), sophomore Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) and freshman Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) had a time of 48.96. The Open New England Championships were hosted by Southern Connecticut.

The same four girls helped reset the 4x100 meter school, MASCAC and Alliance record at the conference championships two weeks ago (49.08).

First-year Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) tossed 19th in the shot put with a distance of 11.41 meters.

Select competators will compete in next week's ECAC Division III Championships, hosted by Morvarian College in Bethlehem, PA.

 


 

Friday's Release

New Haven, CT --- Sophomore Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) timed ninth in the 200 meters (25.84), just 19 hundredths of a second off from the finals and All New England honors, to help lead Worcester State on the second day of the Open New England Championships.

Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) had a leap of 14th (5.27 meters) while Wise and third-year Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) added 20th (12.84) and 22nd (13.00) in the 100, respectively.

Sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) also added 26th in the 5,000 (19:05.21) while freshman teammates Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) and Amanda Holden (Lunenburg, MA) were tenths of a second off each other in 24th (15.84) and 30th (16.21) in the 100 meter hurdles.
