Field Events Shine For Women's Outdoor Track At Bridgewater State Invitational

Bridgewater, MA --- Sophomore Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) marked a toss of fifth in the javelin as she helped highlight some strong performances in the field to help the women's outdoor track and field team open their spring season at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Invitational.

Jasper chalked a distance of 121-9.75 (37.13 meters) to qualify for the ECAC Division III Championships as it was nearly five feet away from the Open New England standard.

Freshman Courtney Spinelli (Tewksbury, MA) and classmate Samantha Barron (N. Andover, MA) also stamped their tickets to the Division III New England's in the javelin with seventh (116-10.75/35.63) and 12th (112-7.50/34.33m), respectively.

Sophomore Cayla Leinonen (Spencer, MA) cleared 4-11.75 (1.52m) to tie for second and qualify for the DIII New England's. Sophomore Brianna Stoney (Danvers, MA) was 15th in the hammer (116-6/35.51m).

The Lancers will compete again next week at the Tufts Invitational.
