Jasper Finishes In 11th Place On First Day Of Holy Cross Heptathlon

 

Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) tallied 2,417 points for 11th place as the fourth-highest Division III competitor on the first day at the Holy Cross Heptathlon this afternoon.

Jasper is just 896 points out of Jesse Labrek (Oakland, ME) of the University of Maine in first place and 251 off Janel Haggerty (Guilford, CT) of Keene State, the top Division III student-athlete in sixth overall.

Jasper had the third-best toss in the shot put (38-1.75/11.63m) and the ninth-highest time in the 200 (27.61). Her 100 meter hurdles split was 12th (14.47) and her high jump was 16th (4-5/1.35m). 

In her first heptathlon competition of the season, Jasper is just 87 points off her previous best on the first day. As a freshman, she earned All-Division III New England accolades and All-ECAC honors with a high of 4,254 points at the ECACs.

The school record is 4,849 points set by three-time Division III All-American and Lancer Hall of Famer Elke Aun.
