Jasper Takes Home Eighth At Holy Cross Heptathlon

Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) finished with a final score of 4,167 points for eighth overall at the Holy Cross Heptathlon this afternoon.

Jasper, who was right behind junior Janel Haggerty (Guilford, CT) of Keene State (4 th – 4347 points) and third-year Abigail Bishop (Hancock, MA) of Coast Guard (7th – 4287), for the third-best sum by a Division III student-athlete at the meet. She currently has the 18th best point total nationally.

On the final day, Jasper put up the best javelin throw (135-6/41.31m), 12 th fastest time in the 800 (2:36.21), and the 13th longest leap in the long jump (14-11.25/4.55m).

Yesterday she had the third-best toss in the shot put (38-1.75/11.63m) and the ninth-highest time in the 200 (27.61) while her 100 meter hurdles split was 12th (14.47) and her high jump was 16th (4-5/1.35m).

This week's heptathlon competition was her first of the season as her highest was the third-place finish at last year's ECAC Division III Championships (4,254). The current school record is 4,849 points which was set by three-time Division III heptathlon All-American Elke Aun.
