WESTFIELD, Mass. - Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.), a senior on the Worcester State University women's outdoor track & field team, has been named both the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week.
Mensah could not be stopped at the Jim Sheehan Invitational over the weekend, winning three individual events and serving as the anchor leg in the winning 4x100 meter relay team. Mensah won the long jump at 5.32 meters, good for 41st in the nation, the triple jump at 10.60 meters, and the 200 meter dash at 26.85 seconds. The 4x100 meter relay team won the event with a time of 49.67, which is good for 39th in the nation.
Mensah and the Lancers will return to the track on Saturday at the Jerry Gravel Invitational at Westfield State University.
