Worcester State 3, Newbury 0

Worcester, MA --- Freshman Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) notched her fifth double-double of the season with equal numbers of 10 kills and digs while she also finished with three aces to help lead Worcester State University to a 3-0 triumph over Newbury in non conference volleyball action this evening at the Lancer Gymnasium.

With the win the Lancers are now 7-7 on the season while the Nighthawks slip to 3-6. The Blue and Gold won in three straight sets 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17.

Junior Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) also shined for WSU as she had 13 digs and one ace while freshman Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) recorded eight digs and a team-best four aces. First-year Shawna Strazzere (Billerica, MA) also dished out 17 assists.

This weekend Worcester State heads to Mass Maritime for a MASCAC tri match where they will take the hosts at 11 AM before they play MCLA at 1 PM. After taking the weekend off, Newbury travels to Bridgewater State for a 6 o'clock game at BSU's Adrian Tinsley Center.
