Balanced Attack Helps Women's Volleyball Defeat Becker, 3-0

Leicester, MA --- Junior Juliana Tyo (Billerica, MA) and classmate Robyn Linscott (Weymouth, MA) combined for 13 kills and a block assist to help lead Worcester State to a 3-0 triumph this evening over Becker in non conference volleyball action.

The Lancers, winners of their last six games, improved their record to 10-7 while the Hawks slip to 4-9. The Blue and Gold won in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-18 and 25-9.

Tyo recorded a game-best seven kills while senior Brittney Ledoux (Nashua, NH) contributed six kills to the attack. Freshman Shawna Strazzere (Billerica, MA) handed out 27 assists as she notched two kills of her own.

Fourth-year Michelle Maass (Halifax, MA) put up a team-high eight digs. Maas and junior Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) also finished with four service aces apiece.

The Lancers will take the weekend off and play MASCAC rival Bridgewater State on Tuesday at 7 PM. The contest features a live webcast on www.mascac.tv.

Becker plays two matches on Saturday at Elms when they take on the Blazers in their NECC opener at noon before they take on Mt. Ida in a non conference contest at two o'clock.
