Women's Volleyball Ends Skid With 3-0 Win Over Salem State

Salem, MA -- The Worcester State Lancers defeated the Salem State Vikings 3-0 in a MASCAC conference match on Thursday evening at the Twohig Gymnasium.

Worcester State (11-11, 3-1) swept Salem State (5-15, 1-2) in three straight sets, ( 25-12, 25-19, 25-17) to snap a four-game losing streak.

Freshman Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) led the Lancers with 15 kills, while sophomore Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) and first-year Shawna Strazzere (Billerica, MA) combined for seven kills and 33 assists in the victory.

Junior Jazmine Barrows (New Bedford, MA) had 18 assists, Rachel Murphy (Wallingford, CT), recorded seven kills and three digs and freshman Brittany Roscoe (Lowell, MA) finished with five kills and two blocks led the Vikings in their loss.

Salem State will host a tri-match on Saturday with MCLA and Lesley University beginning at 1:00 PM.

Worcester State will entertain Framingham State and Westfield State in a key MASCAC contest that will determine the seedings in the upcoming conference tournament. The Lancers will entertain the Rams at 11 AM and the Owls at 3 o'clock while the two visiting teams will face off at 1.

Saturday will be "Dig Pink" day as the Blue and Gold will try to raise money for Breast Cancer awareness with all proceeds going to the Side-Out Foundation. All three games will also be webcasted on www.mascac.tv.
