Keene State Soars Past Women's Volleyball, 3-1

Worcester, MA --- Junior Kristen Girard (Red Hook, NY) recorded a game-best 18 kills to help guide Keene State to a 3-1 triumph this evening over Worcester State in non conference women's volleyball action.

With the win the Owls improve to 19-9 while the Lancers slip to 12-13 with the setback. The Blue and Gold took the first game 25-22 before Keene State won three consecutive sets 25-11, 25-8 and 25-12 to earn the victory.

KSC was also paced by third-year Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, NH) who tallied 12 kills while senior Jamie Levine (Medfield, MA) finished with 17 digs. Junior Laurie Whalen (Niantic, CT) also dished out 42 assists for the visitors.

Junior teammates Juliana Tyo (Pepprell, MA) and Kristen Koles (Billerica, MA) added five kills apiece for Worcester State. Sophomore Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) and fourth-year Brittney Ledoux (Nashua, NH) each amassed four kills as freshman Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) chipped in with three kills and six digs. Senior Michelle Maass (Halifax, MA) and freshman Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) combined for 13 digs and two service aces while freshman Shawna Strazzere (Billerica, MA) handed out 20 assists.

Ledoux and Maass were each honored in a pre-game ceremony on "Senior Night" for playing in their final home game.

The Lancers will play again this weekend in a tri-match with Rhode Island College and Southern Maine in Providence, RI. WSU takes on RIC at 10 AM before taking on the Huskies at noon.

Keene State looks to remain unbeaten in LEC play (4-0) as they host Umass Dartmouth on Saturday at 12 PM.
