Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 At Worcester State Tri-Match

Worcester, MA --- Junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) notched a near double-double with 16 kills and nine digs to help lead Worcester State to a 3-0 triumph over Salem State in MASCAC women's volleyball action this afternoon.
 
With the win the Lancers improve to 7-7 (2-0 MASCAC) while the Vikings slip to 0-7 and 0-2 in league play. The visitors took the first set 25-18 before WSU won three consecutive times, 25-12, 25-19 and 25-17, for the victory.
 
For the Blue and Gold, senior Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) dished out 34 assists with eight digs as freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) posted totals of 16 kills and two digs. Sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) registered 15 digs while Jasper and Grenier each tallied two service aces apiece.
 
Sophomore Jazmin Santos (Lawrence, MA) led Salem State with five kills and junior Angelica Gonzalez (Lawrence, MA) chipped in with nine digs.

Worcester, MA --- Daniel Webster junior Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, MA) had a match-best 12 kills to help lead the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Worcester State in non-conference women's volleyball action this evening.
 
In four very closely contested sets, Daniel Webster defeated WSU, 25-19, 27-29, 25-20 and 25-22.
 
For the Eagles (9-2), senior Kate-Lynn Breault (Hudson, NH) ended the evening with seven kills and three blocks as third-year Jenny Finneran (Barnstead, NH) had an all-around great game with seven blocks, three kills and a trio of service aces.
 
Junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) paced the Lancer attack with another near double-double (nine kills – 13 digs) while freshman Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) tallied seven kills and three block assists. Freshman Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) stood out with 29 assists and seven digs and sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) put up 12 digs as she added two aces.
 
Freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) was also solid with six kills, three aces and a pair of digs.
 
Worcester State continues MASCAC play on the road at Westfield State on Wednesday in a 7 PM matchup while the Eagles will visit St. Joesph's (Maine) on Thursday at 7 o'clock.
