Women's Volleyball Loses Two At Plymouth State To End Regular Season

Plymouth, MA --- Worcester State dropped a pair of 3-1 setbacks to Rhode Island College and Plymouth State to close out their regular season this afternoon at PSU's Foley Gym. The Lancers were paced by senior Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) who averaged double figures with 30 assists and 13 digs in both losses.

 

Rhode Island College 3, Worcester State 1

The Blue and Gold (12-15) took the first set, 26-24, before the Anchorwomen (15-12) won the match with three consecutive victories, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-9.

Senior teammates Juliana Tyo (Pepperell, MA) and Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) along with junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) all tallied 10 kills apiece in the setback for WSU. Lebel added 13 digs and a pair of blocks (one solo) and Figella was solid with 10 more digs.

Grenier dished out 35 assists and she added 15 digs and two service aces. Sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) notched 14 digs.

 

Plymouth State 3, Worcester State 1

The hosting Panthers (22-9) dispatched of the Lancers (12-16) in four sets, 25-13, 25-19, 21-25 and 25-11.

Grenier registered her ninth double-double that included 25 assists and 13 digs. O'Brien recorded 22 digs and a pair of aces while Figella chipped in with five kills, five digs and two solo blocks.

Freshman Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) and junior Kristen Koles (Canton, MA) both combined for 10 kills in the loss for WSU.

The Lancers will use the next week to prepare for the upcoming MASCAC Tournament on November 5 at Westfield State. Third-seeded Worcester State will take on #2 Framingham State at 1 PM.
