Women's Volleyball Dispached Twice At Western Connecticut Tri-Match Invitational

 

Danbury, CT --- Worcester State dropped two games at the Western Connecticut Tri-Match Invitational this afternoon as the Lancers were defeated by Brandeis, 3-1, and the host Colonials, 3-0.

For their efforts this weekend, senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) and junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) were both honored on the All-Tournament team.

The Lancers take the week off before competing at the Worcester City Tournament next Saturday. They will take on Clark in the opening round at 10 AM.

 


Brandeis 3, Worcester State 1

Senior Megan Brown was the star offensively and defensively for Worcester State as she registered nine kills to go with 18 digs in a 3-1 setback to Brandeis.

After falling to the Judges yesterday, the Lancers gave their opponents a harder time today as they were defeated, 25-20, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-15.

Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) also had a solid effort with a team-high 15 kills while sophomore Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) put up 18 digs. Third-year Amanda Lewis dished out 34 assists as freshman Valarie Hoyle (Bridgewater, MA) added five digs and a pair of service aces.

Junior Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) chipped in with five kills for the Blue and Gold.

 
 

Western Connecticut 3, Worcester State 0

Junior Alyssa Jasper tallied a squad-best 10 kills for Worcester State in a 3-0 loss to Western Connecticut.

The Lancers were dispatched in three consecutive sets, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-10.  

Third-year Amanda Lewis finished with 16 assists as Megan Brown notched 13 digs and four kills.

Sophomore Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) also finished with 12 digs while second-year Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) and freshman Nicole Paul (North Smithfield, RI) combined for five of the teams seven service aces.
