Jasper Helps Lead Women's Volleyball At Trinity/Wesleyan Tournament

 

Middletown, CT --- Sophomore Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) compiled 32 kills and a .269 attacking percentage to go with 17 digs and a trio of aces to help lead Worcester State at the two-day Trinity/Wesleyan Tournament this past weekend.

The Lancers were handed three setbacks by identical 3-0 scores to Colby-Sawyer, Clark and the hosting Cardinals.

Worcester State will have three matches in the next week which include their MASCAC opener against Mass Maritime on Tuesday at Assumption (7 PM) before traveling on the road to play a tri-match against Plymouth State and Rhode Island College in Plymouth, NH.

 

Colby-Sawyer 3, Worcester State 0

Senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) along with junior teamates Alyssa Jasper and Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) all combined for 13 kills in a 3-0 setback to Colby-Sawyer on Friday evening.

The Lancers were defeated in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-23 and 25-9.

Junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) handed out 18 assists and senior Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) had a team-best 12 digs in the loss.

Lewis contributed one solo block as Jasper tallied one service ace for WSU.

 

Clark 3, Worcester State 0

In a rematch from last week's defeat in the Worcester City Tournament opener, the Blue and Gold were defeated 3-0 by Clark in three consecutive sets that were closely contested.

The scores were 25-21, 25-23 and 26-24. The Cougars overal record moves to 5-4 in the win.

Junior Alyssa Jasper paced the offense with a sensational .444 attacking percentage that included 14 kills. Jasper also notched six sigs and a pair of aces.

Senior Megan Brown finished with her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs. Classmate Vicki O'Brien moved closer to the 1,000 dig milestone with a squad-best 13 digs.

Third-year Amanda Lewis doled out 32 assists for her best three set total on the campaign.

 

Wesleyan (CT) 3, Worcester State 0

In the final contest of the Wesleyan Tournament, the Lancers were defeated 3-0 by the hosting Cardinals (2-4) in a trio of sets by scorse of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-17.

Junior Alyssa Jasper ended the third match of the tournament with a team-high 13 kills to go wtih eight digs.

Senior Megan Brown was consistent with eight kills, nine digs and a pair of service aces while teamate Vicki O'Brien put up 11 digs defensively. Third-year Amanda Lewis dished out 20 assists in the loss for WSU.

Brown, Jasper and junior Ali Remigio all recorded one solo block each.
