Lewis Becomes All-Time Assists Leader In Tri-Match At Framingham State

 

Framingham, MA --- Junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) totalled 58 assists and 16 digs as Worcester State fell to Framingham State and WPI this afternoon in a trimatch.

The Lancers (6-16) were defeated in the morning contest, 3-0, in a MASCAC affair by the Rams before they fell to crosstown rival WPI in a 3-2 decision.

Lewis passed former standout Janelle Lavoie's (2003-06) all-time mark as she now has 1,338 helpers in her two-plus seasons for the Blue and Gold. Women's volleyball statistics were first recorded starting in the 2003 season.

Worcester State takes on Bridgewater State in a key 6 PM matchup on the road on Wednesday before heading to Wentworth for a single game on Saturday at 12 PM.

 

Framingham 3, Worcester State 0

Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) hit for a .325 clip with a game-best 16 kills in 40 attempts to help pace Worcester State in a 3-0 MASCAC setback to Framingham State.

The Rams (20-4, 5-0 MASCAC) defeated the Lancers (2-2 MASCAC) in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-13, 25-23 and 25-17.

Third-year Amanda Lewis almost put up her fourth double-double of the season with 23 assists and nine digs while senior Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) had a contest-high 24 digs.

Senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) was solid with five kills and eight digs while sophomore Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) registered nine digs. 

Framingham State edged the Lancers in total digs (69-66) and connected for a .294 attacking percentage with only three miscues.

 

WPI 3, Worcester State 2

Senior Megan Brown posted her seventh double double of the campaign with 14 kills and 22 digs to help propel Worcester State in a 3-2 loss to WPI.

Things looked grim for the Blue and Gold as they fell 2-0 in the series against the Engineers in a 26-24 and 25-14 defeats before the Lancers rallied with 25-22 and 28-26 wins in the third and fourth sets. But the Boynton Hillers got the edged their city rivals 15-11 in the final stanza.

Junior Alyssa Jasper tallied a game-high 24 kills while junior Amanda Lewis handed out 35 assists.

Defensively, senior Vicki O'Brien tied for the team lead with 22 digs while sophomore Kaylee Leduc chipped in with 18.

Junior Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) and second-year Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) both finished with six kills apiece.

WSU has been dealt a trifecta of 3-2 losses in their last six setbacks. Jasper's kill total is her second-highest to date, which is just three shy of the school-record she tied against Lasell last week.
