Westfield, MA --- Worcester State women's volleyball seniors Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) and Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA), junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) and sophomore classmates Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) and Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) highlight seven players selected for the MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team as announced by conference publicist Emily Diekelmann.

For Brown and Jasper it marks the third time they have recieved the nod while Deighan, Leduc and O'Brien make their second appearance on the team. Other first time honorees included sophomore Samantha Patterson (Ashby, MA) and freshman Nicole Paul (N. Smithfield, RI).

The team tied for fourth in the conference with seven student-athletes named and boasted a 3.28 cumulative team grade point average for the semester, which was the fifth highest among the nine Worcester State women's varsity athletic programs. 

To earn a spot on the MASCAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester based grade point average during their semester of competition.

Under the watchful eye of ninth-year head coach Bernie Chase, the Lancers posted a 9-19 record and went 3-3 in the MASCAC.

The Blue and Gold made their seventh consecutive postseason appearance and defeated Salem State in the conference tournament quarterfinals. WSU's campaign ended in a marathon 3-2 matchup against Westfield State in the semifinals.

Among institutions in the MASCAC, Worcester State had 78 overall selections on the league fall academic honor roll for the third highest total in the conference. The total number of WSU student-athletes also marked the highest since the league began listing its all-academic honor roll on a season-by-season basis during the 2009-10 academic year.
