Jasper, Townsend And Leduc Pace Defense In 3-0 Victory Over Lasell

 

Newton, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) recorded her eighth double-double of the campaign with a game-best 17 kills and 14 digs as she helped lead Worester State to a 3-0 triumph over Lasell in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Lasell Athletic Center.

The Lancers (17-2) ran their streak to 12 as the Lasers fell to 3-19 in the setback. WSU defeated Lasell in three straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-15. 

Other standouts for Worcester State included senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) who also was in double figures with 37 assists and 15 digs while junior Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) maintained her team lead in digs with 13.

Sophomore Jamika Townsend (Virginia Beach, VA) stuffed the stat sheet with nine kills, 15 digs, four assists, two block assists and one service ace.

Junior Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) and classmate Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) both combined for 16 kills for the Lancers in the victory.

Behind 12 kills in the opening set the Blue and Gold finished with 45 to establish a new team three-set record as the visitors ended the contest with a 68-58 margin in digs.

Worcester State continues its season on Saturday with a trimatch against Salve Regina at Clark in a 1 PM game before taking on the host Cougars at 3. The Lasers head to the two-day Union College tournament.
