Worcester State Drops Regular Season Finale to Framingham State, 3-0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team captured at least a share of the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) volleyball regular season title and a first round bye in the upcoming MASCAC Post Season Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Worcester State University Friday (Oct. 30) evening at the Athletic Center.    

 

The Lancers fall to 11-16 on the year and 2-4 in the MASCAC and along with the Rams will be back in action next week in the MASCAC Volleyball Championship Tournament. 

 

The Rams survived a closely contested first set 25-19, before taking control of the match in the second as they opened up a 13-3 before taking the frame 25-11.  They closed the match with a 25-12 victory in the third.

 

Junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paced the attack with 17 kills on 23 attempts with just two errors, while senior Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills and four digs.  Senior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) filled the stat sheet with four kills, four aces and a match-best 16 digs. Sophomore Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) added 29 set assists and eight digs.

 
 

The Lancers were led by seven kills and six digs from senior Jennifer Cabraal (Swansea, Mass.), while freshman Emily Carens (Northboro, Mass.) and junior Jamika Townsend (Virginia Beach, VA) added four apiece. Townsend also recorded 14 set assists, while freshman Elexi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) chipped in with 11 defensive digs.

 

The 6th seed Lancers will travel to Westfield State on Wednesday (Nov. 4) to play against the 3rd seed Owls in the quarterfinals of MASCAC play.
