Women's Volleyball Earns Split at Tri-Match

BOSTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's volleyball team earned a split on Saturday in a non-conference tri-match at Tansey Gymnasium. Worcester State fell to Lasell 3-2 (22-25, 17-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-5) in the opener, before knocking off the hosts from Wentworth College 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 27-25).

With the split, Worcester State moves to 3-8 on the season.

Three Lancers, Leelle Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.), Denise Hoxha (Worcester, Mass.) and Camryn Burgio (Quincy, Mass.), ended up with four service aces a piece in the opener. Tyler also led Worcester State in kills with nine for the match. Burgio had 21 digs in the Lancer effort.

In the win, Angela Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) helped lead the Worcester State defense in their win with 19 digs. Maeve Cadogan (Wilmington, Mass.) had one solo block and two block assists in the victory. Tyler had nine kills in the match, followed closely by Colonis with eight.

Worcester State heads back to the court against Keene State. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
