Burgio Named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week for Third Time

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Volleyball team had one selected for this week’s MASCAC Weekly Honors. Graduate student Camryn Burgio (Quincy, MA) was named for the third time this season as the Defensive Player of the Week. The Lancers went 2-1 on the week with victories over Rhode Island College and Mass. Maritime.

Burgio collected 75 digs with 14 assists, four service aces and two kills in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. She finished with 35 digs and three aces in the 3-1 win over Rhode Island. Added 23 digs, two assists and two kills in the 3-0 setback to Westfield State. Burgio ended the week with 17 digs and an ace in the 3-0 win over Mass. Maritime.  This season, Burgio has recorded 443 digs, 60 assists with 45 service aces, with a career 1292 digs.

The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday October 25th, when they travel to Framingham State for a 7:15pm start as they look to solidify their seeding in the MASCAC tournament.
