Berg Continues Dominance at MASCAC Championship

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Cross Country team hit the 5k course in Devens, MA today to compete at the 2023 MASCAC Championship. The team took the course with gusto on a warmer than normal October afternoon in their bid for top finishes on the course as they get set for their NCAA competition season.

Sophomore Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) crossed in a brisk time of 23:24.82 to finish 22nd on the course and continue her success this season. Sophomore's Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) and Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA) were hot on each other's toes all race with Symonick finishing in a time of 25:22.28 and McMenemy just 40 seconds off the mark, closing out her afternoon at a time of 26:03.97. Junior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA), competing in her first race of the season, nabbed her first collegiate time of 32:28.57 just ahead of first year Gillian McDonald (Sutton, MA) who recorded a time of 40:29.76 at her first MASCAC Championship.

Worcester State is back in action on November 11 when they compete at the NCAA DIII East Championships for a chance to qualify for the NCAA national tournament.
