Title: | Class of 2008 |
Julie (Pramas) Kazarian is one of the most prolific track &
field athletes in Worcester State College history. She competed for
the Lancer track and field program from 1994-1998.
Julie made her mark in the throwing events for the Lancers. Julie
placed in every event that she participated in her entire career.
As a freshman, she qualified for the Division III New England and
ECAC Championship meets in the 20 lb. weight throw. She was the
Worcester City champion that season in the hammer, shot-put, and
discus.
During her sophomore campaign, she once again won the Worcester
City Championships in the three throwing events. She followed that
with a victory in the MASCAC championships in the hammer throw. As
a junior, Julie once again qualified for the shot put and 20 lb.
weight throw at the Division III New England and ECAC
championships.
That spring, she won the hammer at the Worcester City meet for the
third straight time and also placed in the discus and shot put. As
a senior, she was the Alliance champion in the 20 lb. weight with a
throw that reset the MASCAC record in that event.
In her final outdoor season, Julie swept the Worcester City
Championship throwing events. She was named the Worcester State
College Co-Senior Athlete of the Year and also won the prestigious
Howard C. Smith award presented by the Massachusetts State College
Athletic Conference to its most outstanding female
student-athlete.
Julie graduated cum laude from WSC and was a member of the
Languages and Literature Honor Society, Lambda Iota Tau and the
Foreign Languages Honor Society Alpha Mu Gamma. She has remained
part of the fabric of the Worcester State community as she
currently works as the Director of Residence Life and Assistant
Dean of Student Affairs.
It is with great pleasure that we induct Julie (Pramas) Kazarian
into the Worcester State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
