Hippert Named To D3football.com Team of the Week

Minneapolis, MN --- Sophomore tight-end Casey Hippert (Douglas, MA/Northbridge) has been selected to this week's D3football.com Team of the Week for his standout performance in a triumph against Maine Maritime this past weekend.

He was the only representative from New England on the 22-person squad.

Hippert hauled in six passes for a career-best 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns to help pace the Lancers receiving game in their 47-34 win over the Mariners. He also helped the offensive line pave the way for 407 yards of total offense – the third highest total this campaign.

Among NEFC leaders through the first five games of the season, Hippert is tied for first in touchdowns (5), ninth in receiving yards (332) and tied for 11th with 20 catches.

In 14 career games, Hippert has caught 39 receptions for 661 yards and seven touchdowns. Among tight-ends in program history, Hippert is first in touchdowns, third in receiving yards and tied for third in receptions. He is only 24 catches and 243 yards off of the all-time marks for his position.

Last season, three members of the Worcester State football team received D3football.com Team of the Week accolades.

Current student assistant coach Cameron Jones received the honor on September 27 and both current punter Alex Blakeslee (Shrewsbury, MA) and former standout at defensive line Ray St. Laurent were both issued laurels in the final week of the regular season on November 8

The Lancers (5-1, 2-0 NEFC Bogan) will host Mass Maritime on Saturday at 1:30. WSU looks to end a three-game losing streak to the Buccaneers.
