Janda Tabbed Co-Little East Player of the Week

North Dartmouth, MA --- Worcester State senior forward Samantha Janda (Sterling, MA/West Bolyston) has been honored as this week's Little East Conference Co-Field Hockey Player of the Week for her standout performance in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. For Janda, this marks her first career honor as she was also named to the Synapse Sports Division III Field Hockey Honor Roll.

Janda netted five goals and handed out a pair of assists to produce 12 points. After Janda recorded an assist in a 3-1 setback to cross town rival WPI, she helped lead the charge with two tallies and a helper in a 5-0 triumph over Becker. Janda would finish off the week by scoring three times for her first career hat-trick in a span of 80 seconds in a 4-3 victory over Salem State.

Janda is currently ranked third in the LEC in points (20), fourth in points per game (2.50) and goals (8) while she is tied for second with four assists.

In her four seasons at Worcester State, Janda has scored 19 goals and registered 12 assists for a total of 50 points, which was a milestone she reached in their win over the Vikings this past weekend. She is tied with teammate Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA) for 12th on the all-time scoring list.

Janda shares the honor with Bridgewater State's Shelby Farland (Fiskdale, MA/Tantasqua).

The Lancers (6-2, 2-1 LEC) have a big week ahead as they will entertain 2010 Little East Regular Season and Tournament Champion UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday at 7 PM before they head to Bridgewater State for a 1:30 matchup on Saturday.
