Fitchburg, MA --- Junior classmates Nathan Stanley (Meriden, ID) and Stephen Rock (Tulsa, OK) registered a goal and an assist each to help Worcester State defeat Becker, 3-1, this on Saturday afternoon for the ICFCU Shootout title at the Wallace Civic Center.

Worcester State (2-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Senior Derek Serbon (Crown Point, IN) registered an unassisted marker at 4:17 of the first period.

Becker (0-2) potted the equalizer when sophomore Gerald Owen (Chesapeake, VA) found the back of the net with help from junior Cody Edwards (Kansas City, MO) and freshman Nickolas McKee (Bakersfield, CA) at 6:40 of the second stanza.

The score remained tied late into the third frame before Rock secured his first tally of the campaign off a great pass from Stanley for the 2-1 edge at 14:47.

Rock then returned the favor dishing a pass to Stanley for an empty net marker at 19:45 to secure the win for the Lancers.

WSU sophomore net-minder Drew Case (Plano, TX) recorded 39 saves in the victory while his counterpart second-year Gregg Hussey (Medford, MA) collected 37 stops in the setback.

Each team sent 40 shots on net for the contest. Becker was 1-for-5 with the extra man edge while the Lancers failed to cash in on both of their opportunities.

In addition to their efforts on Friday night's 2-1 overtime victory over Wentworth, Rock and Stanley earned nods to the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore Salvatore Tecci (Franklin, MA) was also named the Most Valuable Player for stopping 32 of 33 shots in the win against the Leopards.

Worcester State returns to action Tuesday night against Western New England with face-off scheduled for 5:45 PM and Becker also collides with Western New England when they travel west down I-90 next Saturday at 4:40 PM.
