Worcester, MA --- Roger Williams University freshman Claire Halliday (Trenton, NJ) scored 5 goals and had a pair of assists to lead the visiting Hawks of Roger Williams University to a convincing, 16-4, win over the host Lancers of Worcester State College Thursday evening at Coughlin Field.  The loss drops Worcester State to 5-2 on the season while Roger Williams improves to 8-2.

Worcester State got on the board first with a tally from junior Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA) but the Hawks followed with 6 straight goals to take a, 6-1, lead.  Junior Jackie Criss (Westwood, MA) scored a pair to give Roger Williams the lead followed by a single score from senior Kary Rodgers (Brookfield, CT) before Halliday ripped off three straight free position goals.  Freshman Angela Johnson (Ashby, MA) broke the string with a free position goal of her own to make it, 6-2, with 8:24 remaining in the half.  Roger Williams answered back with a goal from Lauren Ferri (Northport, NY) off a feed from senior Kara Smolca (Gaithersburg, MD).  Worcester State made it a, 7-3, halftime score when sophomore Amanda Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA) found the back of the net.

In the second half it was all Hawks.  Roger Williams outscored the Lancers in the second half by a 9-1 mark.  Halliday added two more to go along with a pair from Kate Melanczak (Sayville, NY).  Criss added her third of the game along with Rodgers and Ferri who added their second goals of the day.  Kasey Beckwith (Franklin, CT) and Libby Stout (Concord, MA) each added lone goals for the visitors.  Rosborough scored her second of the game for Worcester State's only second half goal.

Lyndsey Nunes (W. Springfield, MA) made 12 saves in the loss while Amanda Magee (Columbus, NJ) stopped 10 shots for Roger Williams.

Worcester State will travel to Waterville, Maine on Saturday to take on Thomas College.  Roger Williams will host Salve Regina University Saturday.
