Connors Repeats As MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

 

Westfield, MA --- For the second consecutive week junior Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) has been honored as this week's Co-MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for her outstanding efforts during the squad's trip to Clearwater, Florida this past week.

Connors registered seven goals and two assists for nine points to go along with nine ground balls and 11 draw controls in a 2-0 week for the Lancers.

She recorded four markers and two helpers to go with five ground balls and seven draws in a 20-10 triumph over Hope before she closed out the week with a hat-trick, four ground balls and five forced miscues in a 14-9 win over SUNY Morrisville.

Connors has been a force defensively as she is currently first in the MASCAC in ground balls (21), caused turnovers (10) and tied atop the league statistical standings in draw controls (25). Among offensive standouts she is first in assists (7), third in overall points (20) and fifth with 13 tallies to her credit.

In their victory over Colby-Sawyer on March 14, Connors passed the century mark in goals and she is just two away from tying Lancer Hall of Famer Ann Clark (2003-06) for second place in career helpers (77). Former standout Shannon Feeley (2006-09) has the all-time mark with 87 assists.

Connors is currently third on WSU's all-time scoring list with 108 goals, 85 assists and 183 points as she has a remarkable average of 4.36 points in 42 contests. Connors is also the programs all-time leader in draw controls (141) and caused turnovers (56).

She shared this week's weekly accolade with senior Kelsey Russell (Arlington, MA) of Salem State. On March 16, Connors was the inaugural MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

The Lancers have two road games in the next week starting off with UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday (4 PM) before closing out the week with Westfield State in their MASCAC opener at 1 PM this Saturday.
