Four Lancers Named to 2016 MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Teams

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Four Worcester State University women's lacrosse players have been named to the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference teams. Seniors Kaila Chase and Jackie Connors were both named to the first-team, while Mackenzie Callini and Angelina Sutherland were both named to the second-team.

 

Thus far on the season, Connors leads her team with 65 goals and 45 assists for a combined 110 points. She also has tallied 48 ground balls, 71 draw controls, and 27 caused turnovers. Chase follows with 52 goals and 30 assists for a combined 82 points. Both Connors and Chase stand atop the all-time career records at Worcester State in the categories of goals, assists and points.

 

As a defender, Callini has registered 17 goals in the 2016 campaign and has totaled 39 ground balls, 30 draw controls, and 23 caused turnovers. Sutherland marked a combined 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) and tallied 29 ground balls, 49 draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers at the midfield position.

 

Midfielder Lauren Geary of Bridgewater State has been named the 2016 Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year and headlines this year's all-conference team in a vote taken of the eight coaches from around the league. Elizabeth Ettridge of Bridgewater State is the 2016 MASCAC Rookie of the Year. For helping to lead the Owls to a 6-1 league record for their second straight regular season title and the number one seed in this week's conference tournament, Jeff Pechulis has been the 2016 Champion's Choice Coach of the Year.
