Worcester State Claims First Two MASCAC Awards of Women’s Lacrosse Season

WESTFIELD, Mass. – After their season-opening victory over Smith College, Worcester State women's lacrosse has earned the first two Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly awards of the 2022 campaign.

Junior Lily Gendron (Lakeville, Mass.) was selected as the MASCAC Player of the Week, while Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.) earned Rookie of the Week honors when the awards were announced on Monday afternoon.

Gendron led the way with three goals and three assists in the Lancers' 12-4 win over Smith College to open the season. Gendron grabbed three draw controls and picked up a pair of ground balls while causing a turnover, and fired six of her eight shots on goal, scoring on three of them.

Erickson, a first-year attack, contributed across the board in the Lancers' 12-4 win over Smith to start their season. Erickson scored twice and set up one goal while also grabbing two ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers in the win.

The Lancers will take the field again this Wednesday evening when they welcome Emmanuel College to Coughlin Field for a 5:00 PM opening draw.
