LANCERS DOUBLED UP BY GOLDEN BEARS

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's lacrosse team fell to the Golden Bears of Western New England University, 14-7 on Tuesday night in Springfield, MA.

Junior goalkeeper, Savannah Rosado had stopped 21 of 35 shots on net and had four ground balls, while three separate Lancers had two goals apiece on the loss.

The Golden Bears scored the first four goals of the game, with two from Liz Mazza and one each from Anabella Arias and Samantha Vitka.

Senior attack, Clare Conway (Billerica, MA) would open up scoring for the Lancers in the final minutes of play in the first quarter. Senior defender, Abby Lauzon (Lakeville, MA) would follow in early minutes of the second quarter to cut the deficit to two.

The Golden Bears powered back with four straight scores led by, Kylie Buchanan and Mazza. Worcester's Lauzon and Abigail Wing (Griswold, CT) tallied a goal each for the Lancers, but WNE's Reilly Miller added two more to close out the half 10-4, Western New England.  

Worcester's, junior attack, Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA) scored two in the third quarter while WNE's Miller tallied her third of the contest. Western New England scored three to open the fourth quarter, while Worcester's Conway netted her second of the contest to close out the game, 14-7 Western New England.

Worcester fell to 3-4 on the loss while WNE improved to 5-2. Worcester will return to action March 30th at Wheaton for a 4:00pm start, while Western New England will host the University of New England on March 26th.
