LANCERS CLOSE SEASON IN FRAMINGHAM

WORCESTER, Mass. - The third seeded Worcester State University Lancers fell to the second seeded Framingham State University Rams, 11-17 on Thursday evening in the semifinal round of the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Maple Street Field in Framingham.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first quarter, the Rams got on the board first on a goal by Rachel Erickson, but the Lancers answered with a pair of goals including an Emily Pavoni (Granby, MA) tally and a free position shot from Lily Gendron (Lakeville, MA) The Rams tied the game on a tally from Tara Palermo and each team added one more in the frame making the score 3-3 after one. 
  • In the second, the Lancers went up first on a Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA) goal to give a Lancer lead, 5-4. Yet, the Rams closed the quarter with five straight goals including a pair from Regan Fein to take 9-4 lead at the half. 
  • In the third quarter, Framingham's Leah Green pushed the lead to 10-4 with a goal in the opening minutes, but the Lancers countered with three straight including a score from Abby Lauzon (Lakeville, MA) and a pair from Gendron cutting the gap to 10-7. 
  • Framingham's Rachel Erickson scored with just over three minutes remaining in the quarter giving the Rams an 11-7 lead after three. 
  • The Rams started the fourth with three straight goals including two from Tara Palermo. Jarvis and Gendron would strike again to cut the lead to 9-14, Framingham.
  • The Lancers closed the gap to 16-11 on a Hannah Nolan (Pepperell, MA) tally, but Framingham's Erickson found the back of the net for the Rams in the final minute to reach the final margin, 11-17.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were paced in the game by five goals from Rachel Erickson, while Palermo finished the game with four goals and two helpers. 
  • Fein finished the contest with two goals and four assists, while Green found the back of the net three times. 
  • The Lancers received five goals and an assist from Gendron, while Shea Jarvis scored twice and picked up an assist. 
  • Alexis Burleigh earned the win in net for the Rams making 11 stops, while Savanna Rosado (Milford, MA) made 13 stops for the Lancers.  

The Lancers cap their season at the 11-8 mark (6-2 MASCAC) while the Rams advance to the finals of the MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday where they will host fourth seed Bridgewater State University at 1 p.m.
