Worcester State Women's Lacrosse Tied for 3rd in MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lacrosse Team finished ranked tied for at 34 points in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Wednesday by the league.

The Lancers, who fell to eventual MASCAC Lacrosse Champions Framingham State in the semi-finals last year, look to advance to the MASCAC Championship this season. Worcester finished third in the preseason ranking with 34 points tied with Bridgewater State for the spot. Worcester State returns midfielder Lily Gendron, who tallied 39 goals and 18 assists for 57 points while also winning 69 draw controls, grabbing 59 ground balls, and causing 35 turnovers. Leading the preseason poll was Westfield State with 47 points, just two points ahead of Framingham at 45 points.  Mass. Maritime came in in the fifth spot with 24 points with Salem State following at 17 and Fitchburg State close behind at 16. MCLA rounds out the poll in the eight spot with 7 points.

The MASCAC women’s lacrosse teams begin the 2023 campaign over the next few weeks with non-conference action while conference play begins the on April 1st.

The Lancers begin their season next week when they west to Smith College for a 5pm draw.
