Women's Lacrosse Announces 2024 Schedule

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team, led by Head Coach Kelly Down in her 8th season, have announced their 2024 Lacrosse schedule. The Lancers are looking to return to the MASCAC post season tournament and compete for the MASCAC Championship title backed by a slate of dominant returners and wide-ranging talent in the incoming class. Stepping back onto Coughlin Field to anchor Worcester State is graduate student Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA), who was a MASCAC First Team selection last year, along with sophomore McKayla Fisher (Peabody, MA), MASCAC Second Team selection, who had a dominant first year with the program claiming three MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors.

“I am excited to get the season started!” says Coach Downs. “Even though we may look young on paper, we have a lot of players who are ready to step up this year and be impact players for us.”

The Blue and Gold begin their season at the end of February for two games on the road as they journey to Wheaton on February 24th and then up to Maine on February 28th. The Lancers will host their home opener on March 2nd when they welcome Wellesley College to Coughlin. The team will remain at home for their next match as Simmons will travel west to Worcester on March 6th for a midweek battle. Worcester then hits the road for a four-game stretch away from central mass, first traveling North to Southern Maine on March 9th before journeying east to Emmanuel on March 14th. Worcester State will then really hit the trails, as they will take a flight to Panama City, Florida for a double game match up for Spring Break. The team will first face Hartwick on March 19th and after a day of rest will take on Keene State to wrap up their fun in the sun. Closing out March will see the Lancers host one and travel for another as they welcome Johson and Wales (RI) on March 28th before opening conference play with a trip to Bridgewater State on March 30th.

After the brief MASCAC conference preview, Worcester has another away-home split journeying to Western New England on April 4th followed by a hosting of Western Connecticut on April 10th. The remaining five games of the season will see the Lancers delve deep into their conference slate of games as the journey to Mass. Maritime, April 12th, Westfield State, April 17th, and Fitchburg State on April 27th. The Lancers will celebrate their senior day, which honors the seniors of the Worcester State Lacrosse program, on April 20th versus Salem State and host their final home game of the regular season versus Framingham State on April 23rd.
