LaValle and Kelley Named MASCAC Players of the Week

Worcester, MA- After a 4-1 start to the season the Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team has been on a role to start. They have had all-star performances from numerous athletes, but this week saw junior Olivia LaValle (Peabody, MA) and first year Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA) honored in the conference weekly honors.

LaValle made 24 saves with a 60 save percentage, 8.00 goals against average and two wins for the Lancers. She stopped 11 shots in the 16-10 win over Simmons and then made 14 more saves in the 9-6 victory over Southern Maine. LaValle recorded her career 100th save in her opening performance of the season versus Simmons on March 6th.

Kelley registered three goals and two assists with eight draw controls, two groundballs, one caused turnover and an 83.3 shot on goal percentage in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. Went a perfect 2-for-2 on goals with an assist, six draws and two groundballs in the 16-10 win over Simmons. Added a goal and assist along with two draws and a caused turnover in the 9-6 win over Southern Maine. So far on her rookie season, Kelley has recorded six goals and four assists for 10 points with four ground balls and 15 draw controls.

The Lancers are back in action on Thursday at 7pm when they journey to Emmanuel in their last game before heading down to Panama Beach, Florida for their spring break set of games.
